This Friday is actually my Friday! I have to work at the running store on Saturday so I ended up taking it off and for some reason I was also given Sunday as well. I think God is telling me I should keep going to church.
Can you believe it may snow this weekend?! I am not too impressed with that forecast. It is that time of year though so I guess if flurries accompany my squash, pumpkin, leggings and scarves so it will be. Actually, after searching my whole apartment (ok, my drawers) I cannot find my yoga pants anywhere. This is kind of a travesty because when I’m at home, I wear sweats or underwear. There is no in between. I have been surviving with my old college sweats, but when I get breakfast from CTB I would rather wear something more form fitting and not college student.
Side note: when did yoga pants become more classy than sweats?!
I watched the Democratic debate this past Tuesday and was mildly impressed. I thought all the candidates had different ideas and counter points to each other, but it did not seem like a fight. Hillary is backed by many corporations ($$) and that is working both for and against her. Bernie is more the people’s candidate even if he claims to be socialist. Maybe America needs a bit more of that. What I like about Hillary is her stance on guns. I do not understand why sane Americans need them. There are more people shot by accidental misfires and school shootings than “protecting my home.” The 2nd Amendment, the right to bear arms, was written during the Revolutionary War and meant for militias. It was important for the minute men to have their own guns in order to more quickly be able to fight the British.
I like the wording this Huffington Post article uses.
I kind of wish both Bernie and Hillary could run in the election. They are both so much better than the Republican nominees. I just cannot fathom how a Trump presidency would work.
Politics aside, running has been pretty great this week. I did a speed workout on Tuesday, 12X400 meter with a 400 meter job in between each one. I think next week (or the week after) I will do 400s again but decrease the rest period to the same time spent on each interval. I want to get back to being able to do a mile at six minute pace. Easier said than done. I did a longish run yesterday morning that I attempted to go at a tempo pace. I ran on the treadmill for 12 miles at 7:30 pace and then 3 miles at 8:30 pace for a cool down. I think I could have done all the mileage at 7:30 or a bit faster but I knew I had to work all day so I needed some energy left in my legs for that. The mornings have been getting colder so that throws me inside. Catching up on the news is a bonus.
Speaking of it, does anyone watch Dance Moms? Well the infamous teacher on that show is now facing jail time for stealing money. Writing off expenses and not paying taxes has now come back to get her. I hope the ladies in orange suits like to shake it in tu-tus.
On a more serious note, the past few days have been kind of body image challenging but I’m trying to shrug it off. I just feel uncomfortable sometimes right now. I’m not sure why I’m bloated and letting the farts out like it’s my job, but it does not make me feel too hot. The best thing for me right now is to keep it in prayer. Each time I think about it, I give it to God. It sounds so simple and it does not fix my BI completely, but giving control to Him is very freeing. I no longer pressure myself to worry about it. Whatever size, shape or whatever feeling I have was given to me by my Creator and has a purpose. Like I said before, my running has been solid this week and I am not sore. Being a good runner is a big deal to me so whatever happens outside of that, as long as running is good, I try not to worry about it.
And to conclude this post, I’ll give you something to blow your mind: At one time in your life, your parent set you down and never picked you up again.
Do not pretend you are not at a loss for words.
I still think my dad could pick me up 🙂
What’s up for you this weekend?
Do you watch the Rep/Dem debates?
